The 3D Earth Screensaver is a favorite of educators, weather watchers and science and nature enthusiasts. More than just a screensaver, it displays photo-realistic interactive images of Earth.
You can zoom in getting information about weather around the world. Real-time cloud coverage shows active storms in progress as they originate and migrate throughout the day. Storms can be observed close up, displaying their movement and trajectory during their evolvement from birth to dissipation.
Another feature is the accurate positioning of the sun, moon and constellations. The animations also give you an astronaut’s 3D perspective of the earth.
The screensaver uses different cameras that can pan in on various areas of the planet. Holding and dragging the left mouse button causes the earth to spin and then stop at any given area.
The view can be set for daylight so that the planet animations are unobstructed, or it can be set to show Earth as it passes from day to night. The animations can be set at different times and speeds delivering realistic images of the earth over time.
The screensaver includes a toolbar that is integrated into the web browser so that images are continuously updated and accurate.
